The ultimate beach wedding inspiration - peonies, a copper wedding arch and a hint of mermaid...
On the summer solstice in June last year, a small team of wedding suppliers headed down to Felpham beach to create a bridal photoshoot...little did we know that in 6 months time we would be on the front cover of Coast magazine, looking out at everyone from the shelves of supermarkets and newsagents across the world!
Gathering the dream team...
The starting point was a conversation we kept having with Susie Evans from Co-Ordination Catering Hire about designing a photoshoot to feature their new rose gold cutlery. We eventually settled on a date - the summer solstice as it turned out - and quickly enlisted the support of Photography by Vicki and Feeling Rosy - an incredibly talented make up artist and beauty blogger. Rose also brought her friend Jemma (and both of their newborn babies!) to model for us, wearing the dress that she'd got married in herself!
Styling the table - opulent mermaid!
We chose to go for a relaxed, beachy look but with opulent details and a hint of mermaid! The whitewashed wooden table and loop backed chairs from Co-Hire worked perfectly in the setting - quite literally on the sand at low tide just a stone's throw from Colour Pop HQ (we gave the neighbours something to talk about that day for sure!)
We added our grey table runners, geometric gold candlesticks and assorted sparkling tealight holders to catch the light and add some glamour along with our pearly seashell plates and, of course, Co-Hire's gorgeous rose-gold cutlery and grey napkins.
The finishing touch was our three informal arrangements of pink peonies with eucalyptus in our pink crackle glaze vases and our gold wire 'love' letters. We never profess to be florists, but do enjoy creating informal flower arrangements for photoshoots and weddings alike!
Chair styling and copper wedding arch
For the chairs, we experimented with attaching white lace ribbon and eucalyptus which caught beautifully in the wind. Behind everything we placed our copper wedding arch which we dressed with white netting and more eucalyptus and peonies - trying to keep it upright on a windy, sandy beach was another story! We love how our lace ribbon bunting on the arch fitted perfectly into the beach setting.
The beautiful model and MUA Rose
Rose had been working her magic on gorgeous Jemma back at Colour Pop HQ and she arrived in all of her ethereal beauty down on the beach to squeals of delight from the rest of the team! Just look at this stunning image below - one of our favourites from the whole shoot. At one point we fashioned a quick eucalyptus crown to add a touch of whimsy.
Submission to Coast magazine
When Vicki sent us the images, we couldn't believe how beautifully they turned out. We immediately got in touch with Coast magazine and Editor in Chief, Alex, got back to us the same day to say she'd love to feature them. Subsequently we had a fun interview with journalist Gabrielle about living and working by the sea, telling her our story and how and why Colour Pop Occasions began.
Fast-forward to December and imagine our surprise and excitement when we saw our gorgeous photoshoot on the front cover! A fantastic end to a pretty brilliant Colour Pop year!
